What do we have to do??? Even if Neill's tackle was close to a foul it would have been a questionable call to send Italy to the penalty spot..... The fact that it was the 95th minute meant that the referee knowingly took the game away from both teams and put it in the hands of one striker and one goalkeeper. The fact that the tackle was in no way a foul makes the defeat all the more hard to take. Also, to be fair, the red card was questionable at best....... The refereeing really has been terrible in this cup.... for all teams. FIFA really have to get their shit together and fix this, you can't have referee's causing results to be changed. If they can't cover the ground PUT MORE REFEREE'S ON!!!! it's not fucking rocket surgery! :)

But you have to smile, because our team outperformed all expectations and challenged much higher ranked teams than themselves. Also, football has gained a new exposure in Australia and many more people will now be staying up late to watch the socceroos take on European teams at 2am. Also, with Australia joining the Asian group, we now have a FAIR shot at making the world cup finals, which will mean that we will be making more common appearances.......

What a wonderful time to be in Australia. We had Australians of all backgrounds all getting behind the one team which is the true beauty of the world game.

i guess thats how the game works. everyone acts when they get knocked with a feather, and the refs either call it or they dont. its annoying as shit but yes, of course, we're damn happy to get as far as we did. but being australian, we wont settle for anything less than a semi appearance next time eh?! :P
i couldnt even watch the game dave, japanese tv ceased to cover it, presumably because it wasnt worth the expense with japan not progressing to the next round....

HA HA! I watch the game at a resonable hour - I think it was 5pm and was I glad that I hadnt stayed up until 2am to watch it. Two things happened for the entire game and had it not been for the 95th minute it would have been a waste of 95 minutes.
In future Im going for the referees. They make the winning move in almost every game!

BTW Unfortunatley 'brain scientist' actually makes sense.
