Key Largo

Chloe's new house. Suprisingly not while drunk.

On our boat out to the reef off Key Largo.

Today we got taken on a trip by the residence hall people out to Key Largo. We went snorkling on the reef around an old shipwreck. It was great fun, we saw a Barracuda showing off his lovely big teeth and heaps of small tropical colourful fish. The visability was fantastic and made me even more keen to get my scuba certification. There were scuba divers around when we were there, checking the wreck out up close!

Tonight we had a ghetto/white trash party, this is the aftermath in the hallway outside my room! Note the sleeper! hehe

Sorry Fox

Oh, and apologies to FOX...... earthquake coverage is now ad-nausiem...... 24hrs a day.

Where da photo?

Lots of work to do for uni so it's been a slow few days! Apologies for the lack of exciting stories/photo's. We should be back to normal on the weekend with many a photo for all.......

I am very happy because Professor Sheridan has agreed to supervise me on my final year project next year for Engineering. He is one of the nicest people ever and he does interesting work in fluid dynamics. I am thinking of working on something to do with wind turbine design, as John worked with a PHD student last year who is now working for Tasmania Hydro..... or I saw that a student was investigating the flow around a golf ball in order to optimise the surface profile. I'm sure Dad would like me to do a project like that!!!

Funny

Thanks to Wendy for this!

>No wonder so many people say google's search engine can find anything
>for you
>1- Go to Google ( <http://www.google.com/> http://www.google.com)
>2- Type in the word "Failure"
>3- Instead of clicking "Google Search," click "I'm Feeling Lucky."
>4- Giggle
>5- Spread the word before the people at Google "fix" it.

I'm Fungry

This Asian python exploded when it tried to eat and alligator in the Everglades here in Florida. He must have been hungry! The alligator was 2metres long!

Fox

Was watching Fox news (because it's the only news channel my tv gets....) and after hearing an hour worth of 'news' regarding high oil prices and the supreme court nominations, they briefly flash up a map of india showing that an earthquake has gone off there. Probably no more than 20seconds.

I come downstairs to check the bbc website and over 1,000 people are dead!! Somehow I think this deserves more than 20seconds!

Tampa

Bus ride was ok, but I went a little stir crazy....... It was a 6/7 hour bus ride to a place that you can drive to in 3 hours so it was a bit frustrating. But it was CHEAP like the budgie. So probably worth it.

Downtown Tampa.... Downtown is interesting in a few cities I've been to in the US. Tampa reminded me of San Jose and Miami in that their downtown wasn't bustling like Australian capitals. There are not a lot of shops/things to do in these downtown areas. Everyone works in the suburbs and not much happens downtown at all. Hence they have problems with undesirables.

Channelside - ritzy area of town!

Tampa Skyline

We were waiting out the front to buy tickets in the nosebleed section for $5 each and a lady came up and offered us her season tickets cos it's the end of the season and she had spare tickets left over..... so we sat about 20 rows back right behind the catcher! Great spot to watch from, although no baseballs came flying our way!

Went to the 'Big Cat Rescue' park, where these guys look after animals picked up from Las Vegas stage shows and crap zoo's around the country. It was great to see these animals being cared for but it upset me that animals like these could be hurt in a country like the US. Apparently, under Florida law you can keep a lion in a cage barely bigger than its body.

Kitty!!
