First day of classes today! I had an 8am class for ECO212 Macroeconomics.... Hard to get up that early after many late sleep-in's!! Classes here are completely different to home. Instead of having 2 lectures a week with hundred's of people in them and then smaller tute's to re-inforce. Here they deliver the material to small groups (tute size of 10-25) which gives us a good opportunity to ask questions and get adequate attention from the lecturers...
I had a large break in the middle of the day so I caught the Metro a couple of stop's down to Target and Best Buy to check out toasted sandwhich makers.... I wanted to get one that I can also cook vegie burgers on... yay!! I am going to give that a shot now.
Then I had my class on Internal Combustion Engines and Public Finance. They both look like pretty good subjects and probably relevant to my career if I decide to apply to go back to Holden when I graduate.
The reality of waking up early and going to class has made me realise that going to uni in another country will not necessarily be any more exciting in the classroom! Although the class we had for public finance had massive director style reclining chairs for all the students!!! wow!
But the out-of class stuff will be really cool. At the canefest (where clubs and societies try to sign up new members) I signed up for Scuba, Racquetball, Democrats, Triathlon as well as Whiffle Ball!?!?! (I don't know either, I will learn what this sport is about when I go to the first meeting next week!)

Hey David,
Looks like you have some interesting choices. Is the Scuba in the ocean or in a pool. I think there would be some great diving around Miami. I think Wiffle has something to do with baseball.. A derivative of.. Glad to hear you are enjoying Uni so far. Good luck with the sandwich maker. You will have a full kitchen in that room soon.
Dad..
Thrilled that you are now a real Miami student, and are about to enjoy your extra curriculum activities. Love Nana
Jill says: Hiiiiiiiii Dave!!!!!! *enthuastic*.

Hey Nath and Sares! Great to hear from you guys! Are people actually jetskiing on the streets here?? you guys probably have better access to news than we do at the moment! with no power, internet, phone and all.... Hurricane was bad enough the first time around without going up to cat 6...
they are pretty serious storms! I have video which I want to put up on the website... Say hi to everyone back at home for me! I found a good phone card on the internet from Cloncom. 5c a minute to Australia from here, might get a phone call from me soon!
Dave
yeah, you are a giant whiffle ball!!! Triathalon, ey? A couple o eng guys and myself are training up for a triathalon at the moment. The major problem is my poor swimming ability (or perhaps excellent floating inability, yay for optimism). P.s. you are also a sandwich maker
