I thought a photo next to this destroyed lobster trap would be good, but the better shot was of me struggling back to hard ground. My feet would sink about a foot down before hitting solid ground!

The old bridge from Bahia-Honda Key.... It used to have a railway on it until the railroad was destroyed in a.... guess what.... hurricane!! in 1935. To not waste the bridge they put a road on it (that is why the road is wider than the support structure underneath it, but the stopped using that as well when they built a new and improved bridge to the right!

Ew! Looks like icky sand...not like a clean and 'squeeky' Aussie beach! Why do they call them 'keys' ?

More questions from me.. Why was the bridge sooo high off the water? Mammoth tides? The new bridge look much lower.. And what are you standing on? Another bridge or a lookout? It's a bit hard to get a perspective.

Jan: Haven't seen any croc's! But I figure the Aussie crocs are a lot more scary and huge so I'm not worried!
The key's beaches are mostly muddy and swamps, although we did find a really nice sandy beach further down near the end. I'm not sure why they are called keys! I will try and find out that for you!
Dad: I'm not sure why the bridge was so far off the water! The bit I'm standing on is the other part of the bridge. They cut a section out I guess to stop people using the whole bridge.... I am enjoying the good weather while it lasts! I will be very cold in a couple of weeks!
