US Consulate

Closest thing to the embassy I could photograph!

Gettin Jiggy Wit It

Went to the US Consulate (Fort Knox) today for my visa interview. I thought I would get a nice photo for everyone, but was not allowed!

After going through the ground floor security section and being stripped of my phone, keys, car stereo and camera, we went up the lift to the next security section. (I believe this is here so that just in case you have managed to craft a weapon from your remaining possessions in the lift, you will be cut-off here before you hold up the consulate with a sharp instrument crafted from your plastic folder and pages from your passport.)
This security section is where you are greeted by Bush's kid-in-a-candy-store smile (presumably to get rid of any people not already stopped by security)

Then nothing..... for 1.5 hours.... Centrelink queue's which run the length of the Cheltenham shops were starting to look pretty good by the time I got called.

Huge anti-climax.... once I got called it was a 2min interview, although I did get my fingerprints taken electronically which was quite cool! That was the highlight! how bloody exciting!

Welcome to the monkey house

I'm very excited because I finished my last exam today (of 5)..... About time too, I was getting very sick of memorising silly 'models' about how to motivate and lead people. After doing 5 Commerce exams I don't think I've ever done so much writing. Engineering exams are quite relaxing in comparison. I was starting to get pains in my thumb from the punishment of 3.5 hour exams! They might as well put the class in an isolated room and let us 'write to the death' survivor style to see who can bullshit the longest.

I've finally got my I-20 which is the holy grail if you want to actually get into the USA instead of just going for a flight to LA and being deported back home! I go to my Visa interview on Monday where it is forseen that I will get my Visa and be ready to go!

Special shout out to any people still doing exams, shame about that, I'm going to the pub now.

End of exam party at the Hawthorn tonight!! rah!

Lull before the storm

Just came back from Nathan's place where much beer and meat was being consumed. Not suprisingly I had plenty of beer but none of the meat. Nathan had to climb on the roof to get the basketball down after I missed the ring by a fair way...................

I put a deposit down on my airfare's with STA, so I am booked onto seats on the 26th of July to leave for LAX via Auckland. Now to get that Visa......

I have an interview booked at the US consulate next Monday to apply for my Visa, I will be sure to take my camera to the interview to get some shots for this page. It's all getting very exciting now, It's hard to believe that it will be me going into the international departures lounge at the airport!! So often I have dropped people at the gate and watched them disappear behind the sliding doors, now it will be me!

I've only been to New Zealand before. This trip will take me to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, New York, London, Helsinki, Osaka, Tokyo and Nadi. Adding 3 continents to the list of places I've visited.

2 Exams this week but fairly relaxed about them considering I have already done 3 of the harder ones this semester. Then Friday night I will be out and about in the city with Janet, Amy, Funke, Nina, Sally and friends.

Hi Nathan, you wench!
