Tampa bound

Off to Tampa this weekend to visit my friend from round-the-corner back home. Jon works for a civil engineering firm up there so I am going to see what it's all about. We are planning to go to a baseball game....

This means that I'll miss the football game this saturday night but that's ok.... as I've already complained about heaps, the game goes forever! and watching the cheerleaders does actually get boring after a while! Although I was looking forward to this game cos it's a night game and we were planning to drink..... the day games you dont really want to drink at cos it's soooo hot....

Have a good weekend everyone! Thank you all for the comments on my blog! You guys make me laugh....

Jetskiing

Forgot to mention that I went on my first Jetski the other day!! Luckily I went to South Beach with a large group of my British friends - all girls.... These guys were at the beach with their new jetskis and they offered all the girls a ride (no suprises what they were doing this for) and I got a ride too yay!!) It was amazingly fast, we went up to 70mph, which is damn quick on water! It was quite bumpy too! I don't understand how you would be able to ride it without falling off, I can't wait to drive one myself! Maybe we'll meet Will Smith while we're here and we can go back to his house in the keys and ride his jetskis, just like in the song!

Claire met R-Kelly! She was excited until I told her that he had been convicted of something dodgy involving children or something!

peace

Football and Football

First home game today against Colorado, we won by a mile and it was lots of fun with the cheerleaders and big band playing and of course Sebastian!

It's a great game, just takes a while to play. Today's game took 4hours.... the actual game time is 1 hour.

Hooters in Coconut Grove. To get a top for Salina!

Looking a bit tired last night under the cool Forster's sign while watching the AFL final which started at 12:30am....

First ball of the innings, George to Treadway

Hurricane was such a non-event! We were locked down for the night with special excursions downstairs with supervision for the smokers.... The lads played indoor cricket in the hallways with a rolled up newspaper bat, then moved onto a squash racquet. We taught the Americans how to play.

There is a plan to go on a cruise to the Bahamas in the next few weeks and also I am going to visit Jon in Tampa at some stage soon. I'll try and get some cricket action shots up soon!! hehe

Here we go again!

Another Hurricane! yay!! Except this time we aren't allowed to drink! :(

Finger's crossed we don't lose power like last time! I don't think we could handle the dark dingy aptmosphere again!

We are all safe inside our hotel! I'll post when we regain connection to the outside world! hehe

Second game vs Clemson

We won!!

Second game of the year for the Canes vs Clemson and we won in third overtime!! so exciting.

We went down the 'rat' which is the on-campus bar to watch the second game and were 'well-excited' as the brit's would say. We were really worried as Clemson came back from 10points down in the last 7minutes to tie the game. Then there were 2 scary overtime plays (both teams get a chance to score from 20m out from goal) which were both tied. Then in the third we scored a touchdown and converted which sent the rat nuts.... then as Clemson came forward their pass was intercepted by a Cane which ended the game!! yaaayy!! Can't wait for next week for our first home game!!!!

In other news, Sam has bought a massive inflatable killer whale to take in the pool, photo's of the whale and our dolphins putting on a show soon! hehe. Also Braden is organising a trip which may include visiting me in Miami and us travelling together! Hiya Braden!

More as soon as I have photo's!!

The car we rented (and drove on the wrong side of the road!) It was quite fun driving on the right-hand side of the road, required more concentration than normal! I finally felt like an American driving this massive thing!

Amazing night. Chris Martin is an absolute legend. At one point he got someones phone out of the crowd and sang to it...

Beginning of the Coldplay concert in West Palm Beach at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre

Best ad on American tv!

Worth checking out this tv ad! It is my favourite on US tv at the moment..... I think you will all find it pretty good.

Watch out for the mascot!

Next time Gadget, Next time....

Damn Poms!!!!!

How is it that I am surrounded by Englishmen the one year that Australia loses the ashes in the last 20 or so years!!!!!!!!! Someone up there has it in for me....

Stupid English weather, apparently we had a reasonable chance if the game wasn't interuppted!! oh well.... Looks like we're going to have an Australian celebration for the AFL Grand Final and the Melbourne Cup. Might try and get the radio going over the web so we can listen to them both.

Good to see, by the way, that the finals have come down to a competition between 4 sides from different states!!

More crazy storms here in Miami land. The lightning was so violent last night. Thought the windoews were going to shatter.

Exciting news, Coldplay are playing in West Palm Beach tomorrow night so we are renting a small car and driving up to see them. ROAD TRIP!! Only concern in driving on the wrong side of the road! and the drivers here are crazy!! no-one actually sticks to the speed limit and people weave in and out of traffic..... reminds me of the highway coming into Sydney!

Tried to go to our first Frat-party the other night but it was closed by the time we got there - 1am.... fair enough

More pics soon hopefully! Definetely post some from Coldplay if I am allowed to take a camera in!!

Yay for pictures

First football game of the year at 'The Rat' the on-campus pub. A lot of fun was had by all.

Chloe getting excited about waiting for a bus outside the seaquarium. We all got Dolphins!!

Quite possibly the scariest clown in the world... except for the one on mtv who insults and swears at everyone!

Chris and his trendy poncho!

Oh dear, drinking out of a bucket is never good news

Yay!! He was so beautiful! I'm not sure I like how he has to perform for us though!

Go Canes

Glad to see that everyone is interested in the blog! I have been harassed about not posting!! hehehehe, It's my birthday!!! yay for me. We were at Denny's having a milkshake when the clock clicked over to midnight and everyone sang happy birthday which was lovely! :) I haven't posted in a few days cos I haven't had many new photo's to add to the collection! We are going out tonight and tomorrow night so I dare say I should have some more for you guys in the next few days!

I received my footy jumper in the mail from my parents which was really exciting as well as some wagon wheels! hehe Shout out to Janet who's birthday it was on the 2nd! I'm blaming the time difference for the lateness of that message!

A special thank you to everyone who was at my place for the webcam thingy the other day! That was soooo nice to see everyone there and have a quick chat with you all! It makes me less homesick to be able to chat with everyone!

We lost our first football game! :( It was a great aptmosphere in 'the rat' for the big game and we all had a heap of fun cheering on our side but we came up short! I am still very excited for our first home game at the Orange Bowl and can't wait for the Miami Heat/Florida Panthers season to start!!

Lots of love to you all
